Default Spindle Thread Size???

I am doing a complete frame off restoration on a 70 BB Convertible. I have the body off and the engine out. I am currently trying to get the spindles out.

I ordered a spindle knocker from Ecklers last Saturday, which they did not ship until Wednesday. Anyhow, I finally have the spindle knocker from them, but my caliper shows it has a diameter of 0.7 inches, and my spindle has a diameter 5/8 th's of an inch.

What is the correct diameter of the spindle? Is my spindle wrong or is the Ecklers tool wrong?

Thanks,
Allen

Hi Allen,
Doesn't the rear spindle take a 3/4"-20 nut?
What part of the spindle are you measuring?
Regards,
Alan

The spindle bolt measures 0.593 inches:

The inside diameter of the spindle nut measures 0.570 inches:

The inside diameter of the spindle knocker tool from Ecklers is 0.699 inches:

I went over to a friend's garage and his spindle bolt measures the same as mine, so it looks like the tool is the wrong size.

Thanks for the help Alan.

Thanks,
Allen

Hi Allen,
Ah!
From the picture it appears you're talking about the size of the strut rod/shock absorber mount!!!!
I was talking about the nut on the end of the spindle itself!!!
Sorry!
Regards,
Alan

/Hi Allen,
The part you were referring to as the spindle is actually the spindle 'carrier/support'.
The spindle and bearings/shims/seals are installed in the carrier.
Next time you'll know!
Regards,
Alan
