79 vette power window issue

Today I went out for a cruise. I went to lower the passenger power window and the window never came down. I could hear the motor. So I helped the window a little and it came down. I went to put it up and it would go up fine except for the last inch and I could hear the motor trying. Almost like it was spinning. I tried it with the door open and it was a little better but never got fully up. I was wondering if anyone has had this happen.

Sounds like the regulator gear is stripped near the top. If so, it will need a mew regulator.

How difficult is changing this gear? I see Ecker's sell a repair kit for it. thanks Joey

Since the rest of the regulator is old also, it's easier to change out the whole regulator. It's less work than changing just the gear or adding the repair part to the gear.

Thanks for the help. Anything else it could be? It worked perfect last week. Strange it just showed up.
