Default Sweet Thunder inserts

Hi All, I have a 72 350 with Hooker Super Comp side pipes and headers.. Right now there are no inserts so its a little loud for driving around town and on highway..

Has anyone gone with Sweet Thunder? 2", 2.25" ? I see many people talking about 2.5" and saying they may be a little loud..

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks

I have the 2.5 in sweet thunder they are pretty loud by most people's opinions but I think they sound good and I've never had anyone say they sound d bad.definitely quite than straight through pipes. I like them at 80 on the interstate Harley riders look over and thumbs up. As i always tell people when I ride loud pipes save lives.

As compared to open headers (I have now).. would you say they are a lot quieter? A little? I know its a little ambiguous..

Would you say this is accurate with your vehicle? Guess I'm wondering what its like on the highgway.. 3K RPM.

I have the 2", replaced the previously installed STS. In hindsight I would go with the 1 3/4*

i have the 2.5 for my BB , they were too loud , that chart sounds about right.

I ended up drilling them full of holes and wrapping them in wire wool and fibreglass and also putting a dynotech cap on the end and they were ok after that.

My now ex wife complained about how loud the same hooker side pipes sound and said I won't ride in that car again if you don't quiet it down , I removed the baffles, problem solved. It worked for me but as they say your results may vary. Drilling and wrapping may be a good option..

Come on up to Maine. I will take you for a ride with a set of 2.5 inserts!I have 11:1 compression on my junk and you can see for yourself how they are. Personally I like it I have 3.73 gears and just a little roller cam. It cruising at 3000 isn't too bad but it barks back pretty bad when you jump on it.

I have tried a few muffler inserts. The quiet ones choked the car. The free flow increased performance dramatically but were way too load. My solution was to get rid of the side pipe and replace it with a Borla muffler.
