79 vette dashboard clock
My 79 vette original clock still runs, but I can not get the time set spindle to engage. It pulls out smoothly but won't advance the clock hands. Is there a gear I can replace or what else may be the problem? Don't want to disconnect the battery until I hit the right time ha-ha

The clock stem has a pinion on the inside that drives a series of gears for doing the re-set. About the only way you'll know what is wrong is to pull the clock out and take it apart. The clock isn't hard to rebuild, and it's easy to do a quartz conversion on. Even though your clock may run fine, the issue may be one of the gears between the stem pinion and the clutch may be stripped.
