Hi b,
Sorry, I really don't know.
I have a 7184 K28 manifold in my garage and it has the S in the same place you photo shows.
The manifold was put on an engine at a dealership as a service replacement.
Is it possible these manifolds didn't have year digits as later manifolds do?
Or did 69 7184 manifolds typically not have year casting numbers?
Alan
thanks Alan
that's what I figured. should I be looking for castings by my build date or can I try to match them to the casting date on my block? can I use the 3965577 cast if its the right date? I have a 12-02-1969 build date on the motor and a 3970010 block?
Hi b,
The 577 is described as 'late', but no info is given as to when during production they began to be seen. (sequence number).
I first think we need to know for sure about the S.
The parts on the engine that were installed at the engine plant, Flint in your case, should always precede the engine assembly date.
Typically by MAXIMUM of 6 months.
But in the case of engines like yours which were being built in relatively large numbers the dated parts can be quite close to the assembly date.
Bear in mind that a part that went on the engine at St.Louis (starter for example) can be dated AFTER the engine's assembly date, but NOT a part installed at the engine plant.
Regards,
Alan
Just not at all sure about 69 manifold date configurations.
I just figured if I have a 0010 block iwould look at the 5577 manifold. since I believe that they were slated for the 70 model year. just looking into some 041 heads.
Hi b,
I've lost track… what hp configuration and what transmission?
Do you know for a fact is the 010 block is original to THIS car? Is the casting date appropriate?
Regards,
Alan
its an HY, 350/300 MT and A/C. 12/02 build date on block. cant make out the cast date yet. need a better pair of eyes on it. the stamp pad looks legit and matches the car. ive owned it since '85, and did the motor over myself in '95. that's why I ask these questions. it had an aluminum manifold when I got it with a holley carb. it was set up like an LT1. the NCRS book says things for 69 and some things different for 70. I seem to see a mixture of the two and trying to put together my debate when challenged. and those parts disappeared in my divorce.
