Man! Can you imagine your mom or dad coming to you on your 15th birthday and handling you the keys to a 69 ZL-1. He is probably kicking himself today.

I posted this before, but the guy in question told his folks that's what he wanted. They'd bought each of his sisters their choice of cars when they were that age. The local Chevy dealer had never heard of the option, but one was located at a dealership in Colorado. (I think this is the only Colorado car showing on the registry if my memory serves) Anyway, his mother jumped in her Cadillac and drove to Colorado from Georgia and flat towed the ZL1 back here on a bumper hitch with only the driveshaft removed. Can you imagine? A fortyish woman, towing a ZL1 on a bumper hitch for probably 2000 miles, and the interstate system probably wasn't completed to the level it is now in '69.
SBR, my L88 really isn't Bloomington quality anymore at this point. It was painted in laquer in '87. It's got some deterioration now, not the least of which was caused by a new filter element in the hood and it's packing oil, which I didn't remove properly before sticking it in, and it soaked through the hood and caused a circle in the paint. Also, there were some mods on the rear deck done by a previous owner, and showing traces now in shrinkage. Some idiot put a luggage rack back there and the holes show slightly in the right light, and the original owner had the local Corvette shop stick a radio in it also and now the antenna hole repair has a little shrinkage also. That particular one is the one that drives me crazy because it caused people who don't know the car (it was local when new) to question the originality. Also, there are the dreaded traces of the front support bar rivets showing above the headlights which is so common on these cars. The car would really need to be stripped an painted again to Top Flight or show well at Bloomington now. For some reason, my 69 L89 which is the same color and was painted less than a year later has held up a lot better finish wise. It scored approx 98% at Bloomington in 89 and I feel certain it would probably easily get Gold again now. If I did get froggy to bring a car in 03 it would probably be it or the 67 coupe which has never been judged.
