im getting ready to buy a richmond 6 speed for my auto 81, so i have to but a a flywheel, clutch, etc... however i see that i can get a 10 or 26 spline, which one is better, and why. also any recomendation's on what clutch, etc i should get to go with this tranny, thanks

I have a ROD in my 69, you will love the tranny. Get the 26 spline, much stronger. If you plan on making some power I would go with a Centerforce dual friction.

Yeah, more smaller splines are stronger providing the material is the same. Analogous to fine/coarse thread fasteners in tension, as fine is stronger due to greater tensile area and smaller stress concentrations.
The 10 spline transmissions were used behing L-48's and the 26 behind the L-82. The 26 spline has a higher torque capacity but yes GM had both in their lineup.
