The TPI saga continues. Ever since I added TPI on my car I have always had a code 33 come up. It basically says the MAF sensor is seeing more than 45 grams per sec (2.2 volts or greater) of air moving through it at startup. I hooked it up to a scanner to read real time data during engine run. at idle it was only drawing about 6 grams/sec. The car runs fine and goes into closed loop but the check engine light is kinda annoying. Has anybody ever gotten this code before? Should I buy a new MAF?
~Christian
I don't know anything about the TPI... It might be a good idea to ask in the C4 section... There are very few C3's with TPI's here in the C3 section...
My book says "MAP sensor or circuit (low vacuum)", and "MAF sensor or circuit voltage out of range, probably high".
I'm by far no expert on this stuff, but it sounds like your mass air flow is working fine, and you should possibly check out the manifold absolute pressure sensor. That makes me a little curious, why did you decide to install TPI and go with a mass air flow system rather than convert it to speed density? Nothing wrong with that, I've just never seen one done that way.
Alright I got it wth a little help from the C4 boys. It turns out the MAF power and MAF burnoff relays were switched. Anyway, no more codes!!! :yesnod: For those of you who dont know what a MAF or a code is, trust me you dont ever want to!!!! lol Just writing this to bring some closure to this topic.
