Another problem I have just discovered is that the inside metal frame of my drivers door is very bent likely from someone trying to get in a locked or broken door handle/mechanism. I am having trouble fitting my interior panel on correctly. Anyway, I was thinking it may be easier to just get a new door and transfer my glass/handles/mechanism over. Does anyone know if a 1969 door is the same as a 1970 - 1972 or perhaps even a 1973 - 1978??
Thanks for any advice.
Pete
Hi Pete,
The doors from 69 to 77 will all fit your 69.
Is the door panel a reproduction panel?
On occasion some reproduction door trim panels are difficult to install in a satisfactory manner. You might want to make sure it's not the panel causing your problem before going to the expense of buying another door.

Alan
Posting a photo of this bent metal may be worth your time.
Even though the doors may bolt up. They are NOT the same. Later year models have an impact bar inside the door that can be easily detected...if you are worried about that visual aspect.
If the car is a coupe, email me at service@willcoxcorvette.com.. I'm pretty sure I've got good used door (I can't check until Monday) but I'd make you a good deal on one if I have it.
Hey Willcox,
Thanks for the offer but the car is a convertible. But while I have your attention, do you have the front hood reinforcement support that attaches to the front nose which is riveted in place. I didn't see it on your website?
Dub,
Here is a pic of the back side of the door. You can see where someone cut a whole and went in to the lock mechanism but worse yet, they pulled the inside frame (under the trim which I tried to reinstall) inward to get in behind the window glass and creased the door frame. I think its a bit of a mess and not repairable.

Sorry, I may have referred to it by the wrong name, I need the hood support reinforcement which gets bonded and riveted in place under the front hood support behind the bumper. See pic below but I need that one for a 1969 (the one I have is for a later model)
I have been 'dropping the ball' on this one. I will take a photo as promised and get it posted tomorrow.
I do know for a FACT that the oval slots in the retainer are for the studs that are used when mounting a urethane bumper.
DUB
Don't worry about this one Dub, I have found the 1969 reinforcement at one of the vendors but was going to see if Willcox has it as he has helped me in the past.
But I do appreciate the help on the bodywork front nose clip front. That I really need the help,,, I have just ordered the vette panel adhesive filler and will remove some more paint and forward you the pics.
