You are right I can buy it locally but still compare to what a set of points for an old Volvo is the US parts are at least twice that or more and I am willing to try some chinese part. I do buy a lot from china so why not continue.

Anyone knows if the positive cable to the ignition has a resistor or not? The electric charts dont show if there are or not.

Just bought one on ebay with mechanical tach drive for my 68 convert. The electrical components and cap can be replaced with GM or name brand parts, so for the cheap price, I'll take the gamble. Plus- most parts like this are made in China, India or Mexico so waddayagonnado?

And... Speed Pro pistons are from India. I found a website opticatonline.com that I believe is the manufacturer's site to post their product specs for US Customs purposes. Country of origin, weight, size, tariff code, global trade item number, etc. is shown for all of the parts.

are the rotors and caps on these any good, I installed one and it performs fine, but I get alot of static through the radio that I recently installed. I was reading a thread where someone said it had something to do with the rotor, and that was a msd rotor even...

you guys think it would be a good idea to replace the cap and rotor with the stock gm parts?

I know when people think of dizzys, they think of ignition, and , when those parts fail, no big deal. But it also drives the oil pump, which is what causes the most wear and tear on them, like un-necessary high volume oil pumps.
A good Melonized GM gear is $30. It won't eat a camshaft, nor shred up and fill the sump with metal. Bronze gears are for strip only, and die on the street very quickly. A good HEI module is $30.00
Think that POS has those items?
I recommend 2 units:
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/n...1867/overview/
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/d...20bk/overview/

The DUI unit is equal or better.

The CHEAPEST I have ever used was this:
https://www.summitracing.com/search/...oview=SKU&ar=1

Recommended by Lars, I installed one in a motor home that does not see severe duty or high mileage. So far, no issues.

Well, I bought one on ebay for about $60..... figured if it was bad I could just switch out the pickup, module and coil with NAPA or GM parts. Looks like I will be doing just that. I finished installing aluminum heads, new cam, new intake, new timing set on my 454 that already had headers and roller rockers this Wednesday. Fired it up and everything ran well. Just as I was finishing, the FedEx delivery dropped off my new Chinese HEI distributor. I installed it the next morning and wasted most of the day trying to get it to work. Sputtering, backfire, backfire thru carb, feeble running when it did run. I double checked ignition timing and valve timing, but no success. Today I ripped the Chinese POS off the car and put back my points and condenser distributor and the car fired up and ran perfectly. After I do a complete electronic rebuild of the HEI I may put it on the car- or may use it for target practice.

On the import dizzy
I hate messing with points so I scored an import ebay tach drive dizzy for my 69 383 and it worked great many miles then I swapped my 383 to a member for his 454 he had the same dizzy and again it works super
In hindsight I wish I had a good orginal tach drive dizzy I would drop an electronic kit in it and run that not to be orginal but rather I want my car to look old school and the big hei head ruins that for me.
