Anyone had any experience about these chinesemade HEI that sell on ebay for less than 100$???

installed. Ok no biggie, picked up another module, and an extra to
keep in the car.
Then for some reason my fans wont cycle on and off at idle
like they normally do.
Turns out the rubber in the vac advance let go and wouldn't hold vacuum.
No other issues to report. I did change out to lighter springs and adjusted the vacuum can.

I have one with 20K miles. Works great. Installed a tach drive unit in a friends 69. Eliminated all his ignition issues. Great pieces.

Do know that the ignition wires have different connectors at the distributor end? The cost of buying the HEI and the wire set will be more than a points style tune-up. Get a good quality set of plugs, wires, points, condenser, cap and rotor from NAPA for much less than $100. Personally, I don't understand the fascination with HEI uints. A well tuned points distributor (even a single point system) will turn 6000RPM. And they are bullet-proof. They'll always operate well enough to get you home.

I've been very pleased with my Performance distributor but the price may not be for everybody. Some here will say that is a waste of money. If I never ventured more than 30 miles from home or only drove limited miles then I might have considered a cheaper alternative. If you have the original distributor with good bushings you might consider the Pertronix module for the simplicity and dependability.

I installed a full kit this fall in my '69 small block. Went well once I figured out correct orientation of #1 lead around the clock to get timing to a starting point.
The only issue I encountered was some strange electrical interference that started as stereo cut-out when engine was running (not RPM-related whine).
Lot's of work to try to shield the firewall inside with foil, used choke filters on the stereo wires, and the problem stopped (not sure what actually killed it).
What it related to was some weird air-borne voltage transmission that would come and go. I could get jumpy voltage readings on my multi-meter, even with the leads disconnected but hovering over the engine bay. When this would happen, the stereo would do its cutting in and out trick.
That phenomenon stopped, and may be attributed to getting the plug wires organized with the billet aluminum wire looms I put in since this photo was taken.
May be attributed to the cheapness of the HEI, putting out strange interferences, but never was 100% sure of the root cause, or why it went away!
FWIW.
