Looks like it. I tried the degreaser & paint remover. Definitely helped but it doesn't even look like anything was ever stamped to the right side of the pad. After cleaning you can tell it reads "CE2299 3 6". I just read online that replacement engines were coded "CEXXXX" so. Not sure what the 3 6 stands for though. Bummer. Luckily I didn't overpay for it

it could still have some good GM internals. You can take off the oil pan and check to see if it has a 4 bolt main and if it has pink rods. Those are great finds. Good luck
Yes, in the 1st pics you could faintly see the CE.
I also believe you could still have a great find, as the internals could still be
for the higher HP variety engine.

My '69 had a CE engine in it when I bought it. Turned out to be a '70 LT-1, so you never know until you take it apart.
