Will the window motor operate without being mounted in door? I have my pass door gutted working on the regulator. I plugged in the motor into its harness and she wont move when I hit the switch. I checked the wires and both are good. So either motor just quit on me or something else is going on.
Not a bad time for it to quit since its outta the car.

hehe, yea we did. I know it sounds crazy but It was working fine before I pulled it. I even gave it a hammer love tap like you would a starter thats going bad.
motor must have good solid Ground to function. (Do not assume it is grounded thru door hinge.)
after that 12 volts on either terminal to moves up or down.
I add a gnd. wire for power windows when i build them.
Just to be clear: The two larger leads coming from the motor are NOT 'positive' and 'negative'; they are 'positive' leads for UP and DOWN. There should be a smaller grounding wire OR the case should be grounded for battery 'negative'.
I would not suggest that you put power to the motor without restraining it somewhat. It has quite a bit of torque and the motor will 'jump' when you put power to it, if not restrained.
