What was the purpose behind compression that low and rectangular port heads unless some type of forced induction was planned? Or haven't i been reading closely enough?

The tech printed only the last run- the one where the water pump seized at about 6k rpm and threw off the fan belt. The previous three runs did not have the dip in the curve. If you followed the previous posts, air/fuel, ignition and mechanical problems were investigated with much help from people on the forum. But thanks for your input.

I think its an honest 350-360 rwhp combo with an E Fan..

With 119 cc heads and a 0.030 over bore I calculated 7.93 CR, without adding in the gasket thickness. Next winter's job will probably be pulling the motor and adding domed pistons to get the CR ratio up. Like I need more power to go to the ice cream stand.

Last time I got on the add-more-power frenzy, I spent almost $90K on my RX-7......which sits under a cover and hardly ever gets driven. But- it is really fast.

Lol! I know how it is....
Two points of compression with no changes would net you the 400 rwhp I spoke of...
Have fun for now......I have a red one myself....

I feel your pain. I did the same thing on a C5Z... I had over $100k in that car, made 900 rwhp and ran bottom 9s with 8 sec potential but broke damn near every time I tried to make a hard pass. The car stay broken way more then it ran. I literally put 12k miles on it in 5 years. (4 engine builds, 3 trans, 4 diffs).. It was fun when it ran but....very stressful and definitely not the best "investment". I sold it for a third of what I had in it.

I have way more fun in my 71' anyway and its as reliable as can be....albeit MUCH slower.

"but broke damn near every time I tried to make a hard pass"
I think it was after I added the ceramic-coated turbos from Pettit Racing to my FD and increasing the boost to 18 psi, the first hard run completely spun the clutch when I shifted into 2nd gear. So- next money pit was upgrading the clutch. I went thru three varieties before getting the ACT extreme set-up that now works. But three engines, clutch, transmission, exhaust, suspension, two computer upgrades, leather interior, Bose upgrade all added to the investment in the car. I loved how it drove, but hated the exhaust sound, which was like a cross between a leaf blower and a coffee grinder. No amount of $$ can improve the bad sound. Now I have a big rumbling V8 and I hardly ever play the stereo in the car. It would interfere with that music coming out the tailpipes. RA

I like your choice of wheels. The PO put 18x8 and 20x10 Torque Thrust II on my car. I initially preferred the stock Rallye wheels, but have gotten used to them and actually get a lot of comments about them.

"but broke damn near every time I tried to make a hard pass. The car stayed broken way more then it ran" My neighbor is Lee "The General" Edwards, two time IHRA national champion. He now is retired from racing, but builds high end racing engines that I can hear at full throttle on his dyno when he does the final check. He tells about his early days in racing when just keeping the engine in one piece (with a limited supply of good parts) was half of the battle. Check his website. Interesting guy.
