Default Engine fan install in 70 LS5 question

Can the engine fan be installed with radiator and shroud in place? I'm hoping to be able to locate some other parts and then if time permits install the engine fan. I know it was a giant PITA to get radiator and shroud installed.

I have the core support lower bolted in place along with the nose support rod.

Hi D,
I'd think that to create more space the fan clutch and water pump pulley could be removed so the fan can be slipped into place.
Then the pulley and clutch can be reinstalled, and finally, the fan bolted to the clutch.

Alan

I guess I will be getting more practice at setting the tension on power steering and alternator belts.

Alan
I noticed the other day when I was cleaning my 7 blade AC fan, that each blade has part number and date on it. I gather from my posting on NCRS site that my rear valance brackets are different than expected (thread is sharing tank sticker ...).

I imagine it's the same as my 69 BB. I always install the clutch with the fan already attached as a unit. I install the WP pulley, line up the holes then install one of the four bolts a few turns. Turn the pulley so the bolt is on the bottom and slide the clutch/fan assembly on. The four mounting bolt holes on the clutch are open ended so you just drop it over the bolt and it gives you something to rest the clutch/fan assembly on while you install an upper bolt. Tighten the two bolts up just enough so you can still get the last 2 bolts in the holes then tighten all 4 down. I have done mine quite a few times with the rad and shroud all bolted in place.

The fan slipped in without issue and got three of the nuts on, the fourth is MIA. Managed to get shroud and extension installed, with the blessing of my awesome wife.
