UPDATE - I made a limiter out of mine too and it STILL was doing the same thing. I moved my vacuum line from manifold vacuum to ported vacuum and now it seems to work fine. Would the vacuum not be the same at part throttle regardless of whether you used manifold or ported?

What is a Lars gizmo?

Right now I'm running without vacuum advance and it's fine. The only issue doing that is a decrease in gas mileage and it runs 10 to 20 degrees hotter depending on OAT. I don't want to run without vacuum advance over the summer so I'll install Lars gizmo. I thought about getting an adjustable can but I don't trust them just as you are finding out.

He sells a vacuum advance limiter that limits the vacuum can advance to 10 to 12 degrees. So if you have 36 mechanical your total advance with vacuum advance is limited to 48. You install in in your distributor so no matter what can your using it's limited to 10/12 degree.

I Installed an MSD tach drive distributor and changed my advance vacuum 'can' to a unit that required more vacuum. Fixed all my detonation issues at throttle. I either HAD a B2 can or changed it to a B2...cannot recall. I may not be getting every ounce of HP goodness, but I know I can't hurt my car.
