Here's a shot of the 9.27@153 run. Not pretty...but finally starting to come around. The more I dig into it...I'm thinking it was more of a clutch tuning issue than a fuel problem on some runs. If I banged it hard...the clutch would slip too much and not recover. If I went slow...it did better.

I've got another test-n-tune coming up April 9th after the TX Mile. If the rods are still in it I'll make another try at the 8 sec zone!!

Pretty cool run! Do they let you run with the hood unlatched like that???

What have you got in that thing, sounds like a turbo? Certainly some force going through the drivetrain or do you just have soft springs in the rear

I'ts really cool to watch the car jump on each gear change! You can definitely hear those turbos. It doesn't sound like you're hitting an extreme amount of RPM, what are you shifting it at?

Jim, it looks like you need larger slicks. That thing is black tracking all the way down the track. I think 8's would be there for sure if the tires weren't slipping and possibly the clutch as you stated before.

I've got some hood latch extensions I use at the track. Started years ago when I would use a carb spacer. It always handled good with air venting out from under there so I've kept doing it even though hood clears turbo setup. It's latched down.

Faster with an auto? I dunno. We'll never know. As long as my left leg and right arm work it will have a stick.

The added power has made things a little harder on the rear. It's already got a 5 leaf Daytona spring with an additional main leaf. Shocks are dialed up stiff. Might need another leaf. Interestingly it doesn't squat so bad until it's under boost further down track.

Youre right. I wasn't shifting at my normal 7500 rpm range. Those were in the 6000-6500 range. I made one pass shifting at about 5500. It didn't like that. I think it's going to be happier in the low 7000's. That's why I was trying different things. It's a whole new combo.

Jim.

I think the next set will be taller to help with gearing.

Taller will help with traction too. I experimented with going 1" taller versus 1" wider years ago and found taller made a larger difference in traction.

Have you tried less air in the tires? It doesn't look like they are squatting much and the sidewalls aren't distorting much.

Nice. What was your Tx Mile top speed? I did a search but didn't see it.

i was using 16.5 lbs like I usually did. But I wasn't launching at as high an rpm as old days. I also swapped my Moroso drag springs and 90/10 shocks for a coil over setup. Not as much weight transfer.as before but better for the high speed stuff

i did test them the other day at 15 psi and they moved around a lot on the top end.

Jim.

Keep at it Jim. Hopefully you get the fuel system issue resolved before the Mile, it will REALLY show up then.

Then back to the track, it will definitely be a tricky setup to dial in but, 9.20s on the first trip out is outstanding. I think I'd tighten that clutch up some more. Even though it will hurt your 60/330', you should pick up some mph...

I can't wait to see how far you can go with this car. 8s with a pump gas, stick car, that weighs 4000lbs is insane. I'd love to see it trap 160 mph.

When my old C5Z still had the stick, it went 149 mph with 840 rwhp at 3500lbs, and I was NOT a good shifter, so using "ricer math", yours weighing 500lbs more and 4 mph faster is showing at least 900-950 in comparison, not to mention anything you lost from the fuel supply issue.

She has a lot more in her!

Not a very pretty run and with that mph you should be well into the 8 second zone! You're making some serious power there. Cant wait to see some more!!!

BTW, what was the 60'/330' time?
