Hi Paul,
Welcome!
First Post!
I think it might be wiser for you to look for a complete car with an engine and transmission. You can then sell the engine and transmission. Often when a car loses it's engine/transmissions other parts are removed with them.
It's VERY important that you not buy just PART of a car since with you're plan you'll really need all the bits and pieces… some of which can be difficult to find individually and can make the project become expensive in a way you didn't expect.
Also, you will have a wider selection of complete cars, than cars that are complete but without the engine/transmission.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Good luck with your search Paul and welcome to the Corvette Forum. Good decision to look here for good advice.

I am assuming you are looking for a 72 because of cost as the closer you get to 69 the higher the prices seem to escalate, correct?

Do you have mechanical abilities to do some of the work or are you looking for a nice body now that needs nothing but that crate engine and automatic transmission?

I would consider a bone stock 72 that is already equipped with an automatic transmission as a good starting point. Easy to pull the engine and transmission and swap them for what you want to use.

I agree with the "Wanted to Buy" ad, might be your best bet.

Good luck with your search.

Wow. I just noticed you posted three times in ten years here on the forum. With those cars available you should be putting them out there so folks can have a look and maybe help you move them if you no longer , want them, IMO.

Good luck with your sales.

Hi Paulmaters, I don't know of anyone personally thats offering a '72, but if you do look at one you need to see the frame and the "birdcage". If somebody sold the drivetrain out, it must have bigger problems with the structure/integrity of the car. There's usually a reason why the motor's gone.
