Any suggestions?
Installed Dougs headers / still working on the side pipes
The drivers side header is 3" out from the side frame rail.
The passenger side so far appears ok it is 2" out from the side frame rail.
I will call Dougs on Monday- to see their opinion, but the drivers side pipe will not mount, just too far away, it is 1.5" from the back of the side pipe bracket to the frame rail ?
My car is. 1970 big block.
Has anyone else seen this? Could it be the header is just not right, I also had to heat pipe and add a ding as the Doug ding was in the wrong place for my steering box...
Sorry to hear that. When putting a set of side pipe headers on a big block '68 Doug's were the only ones that fit without needing a hammer. As stated above check your mounts.
I had similar problems, Doug's and Hookers and new mounts. Right side pointed out and down. Left side was straight but pointed up. Both were further out than the old Hookers I took off. I sent both ceramic sets back and ordered Doug's painted and I had a guy that builds headers cut and align them. Then I had them coated. IF i have to do it again I will have them custom built.
