I'm too old for that **** anymore.
I think I'm going to take it to a shop down the street and see what they would charge me to do it. If I had a lift I could have it out in 2 hours. On my back it would take 2 days.

Exactly... I have a one car attached garage.. its tight. I have a friend with a lift that I may try to persuade to let this happen at his house.

I replaced my original Super T-10 with a brand new Richmond unit a few years ago. Other than the worn out bearings in my original, it shifted better than the new Richmond unit.

If the car is in 1st gear and moving, if the shifter is pushed forward, a metal grinding/buzzing sound can be heard. Since the shifter stop is internal, there's something out of alignment inside the transmission.

If I shift quickly from 3rd to 4th, the synchro notch is bypassed, and the shifter slams into 4th with a metallic "clink".

Now, the 2nd gear synchro isn't completely stopping the gears when it's cold. I haven't had any grinding yet, but I can feel some slap on the shifter until it warms up.

The 1st gear buzzing issue was present from the start, but the transmission was out of warranty before the other two issues appeared, so I'm SOL as far as warranty goes. I'm not surprised that other Richmond transmissions weren't built properly. Good luck with your transmission.

Me to except mine is detached. When I pulled my engine the last time I did it in the driveway. There is no way to do it in my garage. Oh the price you pay for being married and wanting a spectacular view from our front porch. The people we bought the house from years ago had it built and they could have put a two car garage up but they didn't want to cut down a tree to do it. If it were me that tree would have been fire wood.

....well I pulled the console tonight and found that the shifter mount plate was quite loose. I just may be that lucky after all.

Im very hopeful that this is the cause of the problem.

UPDATE:

Dug into it a few nights ago. 3 bolts hold the shifter mount to the trans. One was missing, the other two were loose. Its my fault, since I had to take all of this off to put the trans in in the first place, and didn't re-locktight the bolts.

Put it all back together, and got to go for one spin around the block. Fingers crossed, it seems to be ok.

We all have brain farts at times. It's always nice when you find something simple to repair instead of a major disaster.

Glad you didn't just freak out and sell it after all the problems. Its great that it may be a simple little fixed your ready to cruise for the summer, you'll feel the stress just fall away.

Good luck, hope its cured

Too much time, effort, and money tied into it to just sell it, but truly relieved that it was something simple and silly.... and yes the stress is dissipating.
