Less than I used too. Yes, that's right. But only because a little throttle goes sooo much farther than it used to. I used to love flooring it whenever I fully engaged the clutch; but if I do that now I'm sideways every time in the first two gears. Only very sticky slicks would begin to hold 1st gear at full throttle. If I do it in 3rd, I hit 100 too darn quick. This brings a bit too much attention to me from my fellow city drivers. Flooring it in 4th just simply blasts by the other cars scaring them only moderately. Fifth and sixth still accelerate faster than all but a very few at highway speeds when I floor it. Makes shifting pretty unnecessary.
For the most part I only floor it in 2nd and 3rd when I merge onto highways IF I have a good amount of clear room in front of me. Oh, but when I do, it is so, so good!
EVERY time i take her out i wait for the first nice straight , make sure the temp is up,and i 'll floor it.i 'm not really into high speeds ,but i love to accelerate, downshifting from a cruisingpace in 4th gear to second and mash it.there's nothing like it. just can't get enough :D
although right now i need to replace the clutch , so no fun for me
I do it at the toll booth just on the other side of the bridge I cross every morning. I've barely had the car a month and the longer I have it the move I do it. It pings in 2nd at 4500, so I don't do it for long. Once I go through everything, I suspect I'll floor it more often. :troll

:cry :cry :cry I can only dream of having TOO MUCH power!!!!!!!!
With an L48, I can floor it as much as I want . . . it's not dangerous, but it's still fun.
Haven't had the chance lately, but I had a ritual when I drove her to work
each day - 30 miles on Rt3 South into Mass. I would always find an open
straight stretch with no cars ahead - and crank her up to a buck.
This wakes you up better than a cup of coffee.
Rainy days = caffeine in the 4 door.
Nice days = adrenaline in the vette
Once I built the TH400 with S/S shift option, it was all over. I couldn't help
to force downshifts and get nice shift chirps - ALL the time.
:seeya
My Husband and I just bought a 72 with a 454 bb - it is hard to not floor it whenever you get a chance!! We are careful to make sure no one is around!! Ok well every once in a while on the highway - you just can't help it!! ;)

I found this out when my daily driver broke down for a while. I drove the vette everyday to work. Found out I didn't drink coffee. The sound of the SB at WOT is just awsome.
I floor it all the time, sometimes just to get bad looks from old people. lol
The other night Kym and I went for a cruise down the highway with the tops out and windows down. We came up on 3 dudes riding Harleys. I slowly creeped up beside them. I was cruisin in 4th gear when I punched it to the floor. The tranny kicked down to 2nd at about 50mph and my 2 chamber Flowmaster screamed thier tune along side the bikers. I shot forward for a few seconds untill I caught up with traffic and had to slow down. Shortly thereafter the bikers caught up beside us. I think they liked it because they then proceeded to give us a full throttle blasts from thier loud Harley pipes. Thiers were much louder than ours. It was pretty cool. We went down the road for a while talking back and forth with our exhaust noise. Man them bikes can be LOUD!!!!!
You tend to get smarter as you get older. At 25 I stood on that sucker often and really am amazed I'm still alive. Now, at 56....it's not that often but if the situation is just right....let's just say....the car still runs good.
gotta love a 4-speed. love to run it thrugh the gears. here is SE michigan its tough to do. forkin stoplight every 300 yrds.
caught my wife looking thru the zip catalogue. "what you going to by me?" she said nothing... im looking for a passenger side wife brake kit! :jester
