This morning I laid the gasket on the manifold with the studs in the rear to
check for proper fit and I noticed that there's an area on the driver side near the front of where the carburetor sits that's open. This seems kind of odd since it's the correct GM aluminum manifold for my 69 427. Wouldn't this cause a huge vacuum leak and is there a resolution? Thanks in advance
Looks like I need a different gasket set. I should've read the paperwork from Lars with the Q-jet he rebuilt for me. Duh

Many guys have ran into that on big blocks. GM did not use that gasket alone, there was a heat shield that went with it. The combination set is what seals the crossover passageway.
