The NOM 454 in my 68 convert is similar to your engine. The PO installed a 1978 one ton truck engine rated at 250 hp at the flywheel. Before I started to modify it, I wanted a baseline dyno run. I was surprised to get 306 rwhp- after expecting about 225. These are the mods the PO did to the truck engine with flat top pistons, 0.030 over. 750 cfm carb, Chinese aftermarket intake, Hedman long tube headers, Comp cams 268/268 cam, roller rockers. So you could expect some gains by installing a bigger cam and some external mods.
