'73 fuel gauge fluctuation - any advice
I have a '73 convertible that I just finished a body off resto. I am very pleased with the car, but I find the fuel gauge really fluctuates when I come to a stop, accelerate, or am on a hill. I assume this is because there are no baffles in the tank. When the car is not moving, the gauge is accurate and stable. Has anyone found a way to reduce the fluctuation?
I really appreciate any tips.
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,
There's an 'insulator' under the resistor when it's mounted on the back of the gauge. Check that it's there too.

Alan
Does the gauge seem to indicate the level of gas in the tank accurately?

I certainly will. The gauge does seem to be accurate, but it does seem to go through a fair amount of fuel according to the gauge. I only have a 150 miles on the car since the rebuild so I need to get a couple tank fulls of gas to get a better sense of the mileage.
