Default Headers vs exhaust manifolds

What's the thought's on long tube painted headers? I have a stock 75 L48 and someone wants to trade out from the cat forward, for painted long tube's to get their 79 back to stock.

If they are not coated then I wouldn't do it. Also, is your car numbers matching and stock and do you care about that stuff? Ram horn manifolds (originals) are getting harder and harder to find.

Here are my headers before and after getting them JetHot coated (inside and out). I forgot the cost but it's not cheap. I wouldn't trade ram horns for painted headers but that's just me.

Thanks yeah it's numbers matching, I should just keep the exhaust manifold's and remove the cat and leave like that. I keep everything I take off smog pump etc, I'll save the cat also.

The other guy wants to scuttle the headers for stock parts. Maybe you should consider why he would do such a thing.

He said he wanted to get back to stock for daily use, I have year of manufacture plates (MO) and don't need any emissions. The more I read opinions about it stock manifolds seem to be very popular. I decided to leave them remove the cat and get some better mufflers. Thanks for the input.

Since your car is # matching your better off keeping it as original as possible IMO. Someday it may matter on a '75.
