Default More Sensor/Connector Troubles

I am still in the "evaluating what I have" stage of ownership, and am finding more and more everyday.

To start, why does this engine have two coolant temp sensors? Is one for the gauge and one for the computer? How can I test the sensors?

My oil temperature sensor I believe is bad as well, but is there a way to test it? New ones are quite a bit more than the temperature sensor even though they look similar!

In the photo I attached, I found another sensor of some kind on the passenger side. I don't know what it's connected to. Does anyone recognize it?

Lastly, I found a connector tucked away near the oil temp sensor. From what I researched, it looks like the TCC connector for the transmission. Could it have been unplugged to stop lockup all together? My cruise works great. Should I just plug it back in and see what happens?

The temp sensor on the drivers head is the gauge.
The switch on the pass side is the aux fan.
The sensor on the intake is for the ECM
The oil temp sensor is just above the oil filter.
That plug is for the tranny lock up.

And as always it is recommended that you buy a Shop Manual. Also use extreme care when disconnecting sensors as alot of the plastic parts are of an age that they are brittle and will break. Good luck with your car! I wish my cruise control worked.....

I've got both the assembly manual and the shop manual. They have been extremely helpful thus far, especially with wiring diagrams. Yes, the plastic pieces really don't like to be flexed when they become 35 years old!
