1976 "Stingray" emblem placement
I own a 1977 Corvette (210 HP) that was built in the early line for that year.
My Dad was the original owner and verified that this car had "stingray" emblems on the fenders. Over the years, I have learned that this car is a "strange duck" I have verified that the car has 1976 parts, 1977 [arts and yes, some parts that were found on the '78 model (mostly electronics).
I had the car repainted and would like to replace the Stingray emblems in the correct place. They were on the car prior to the repaint, and returning them is important to my dad.

I'm not up to date on the early 77's vs late 77's and fender script, but all of the "Stingray" emblems that I have seen have prongs on the back side for alignment. Your fenders should have holes in them if these were correct for your car.

Here's the sheet from the 71 AIM that indicates the spacing for the holes in the fender for the Stingray script.
Perhaps you can use it as a guide.
Note there's a 'left' and 'right' set of dimensions.

Hi Bluvetts3, I also have an early 77 (no.870) built in August 76 and it had Stingray badges on it but my understanding is the early ones had nothing on either side except alarm switch on the left!
The badges that came off had no pins in the back only double sided foam tape,I would be interested to hear if there is more early 77's with these badges on from factory

I'm curious about the scripts you took off your early 77…. were there any signs on the back of them of the pins having been removed?
If there are signs of the pins, how many of them do there appear to have been…. 3 or 4?
Also, what type of adhesive is on the back of the script…. 'piped' on, or die-cut pressure sensitive.

If I owned the car, and it was already painted, and wanted the script added.
I would not drill holes in the body.
I would cut the mount post off the back and just double sticky tape.
they have tape that will hold them on just fine.
your Dad will be instantly happy.
and they can be removed again carefully.

I have a 76 and came across a new set of stingray scripts for $25 and could not pass them up. My car is painted and I plan to do what 69Vett said.

With just adhesive they can fall off or get stolen fairly easy.
My choice is to eliminate all emblems and go for the smooth custom look.
But that's just me.
Everyone gets to decide what they want to do with their car.

I have a set of emblems....reproductions with 3 pins. Got them several years back brand new from Corvette vendor but made by Trim Parts.
What's the story on the 3 pin veersion and the 4 pin version? The label says 74-76

If there aren't any holes in the fenders, the car most likely did not come with "Stingray" script installed by the factory (as 77's didn't have them).
Either the dealer installed the script or your dad mis-remembers(it happens).
I would just get a set of script, cut off the prongs, use some adhesive and apply.

The 1969-1973 emblems had 4 studs, the 1974-1976 emblems had 3 guide pins and used double stick tape to attach. I just wanted to cover both with the illustration.
