Torque specification for 1979 leaf spring bolt
BTW-I have been reading may more than I thought I would need to regarding leaf springs. I am going to try and avoid putting any more coating than needed (maybe none) on the leaf surface that interfaces with the next leaf liner as Eaton Spring indicates that even the buildup of a few thousandths of an inch of primer/paint/powder coating, etc. can be detrimental to the spring performance over time as the coating wears off and prematurely "loosens" the assembly as a whole.
Because the spring came to the line as an 'assembly' (that bolt already in place) the torque specification won't appear in the AIM.
I really think the nut only needs to be tightened enough for the bolt to hold the leafs in alignment while the spring is installed… 20-30 ft. lbs ?.
It's the 4 large bolts on the retainer plate that do the work. Those use 70 ft. lb. on a 71 9 leaf.
Regards,
Alan
