Hi m,
It's simply called a 'spacer' in the AIM, and 'bumper' in the parts book.
It's shown in the AIM (71) in UPC 1 asm, Sheet F8.
There are 2 required…..one for each side.
They help locate/support the bottom edge of the windshield when it's installed.
The end is dipped in rubber in order to cushion the point at which the glass contacts it.
I'm unsure if they're available as a reproduction?
Regards,
Alan
I have the original ones, but as you can tell, I'm freshening up that area and would love to have some new ones. Time to use the googler. Thanks for the help.
Hi Marc,
They're quite easy to strip, and then dip the tip in something like Plasti-Dip.
Since they were in place when the black-out was done in the wiper-bay they can be painted semi-flat black
Regards,
Alan
That looks really good (especially compared to mine). I'll just recondition them and try the plasti-dip approach. On the subject of reconditioning, my 45 year old wiper transmission mounting plates cleaned up pretty good. I hope the rest of that area comes out ok. It's my first attempt at a re-do.
