Default Spark Plug Wire Re-Routing

I have been reading on the forums that changing the spark plug wires on a C3 (1977 L48) can be a pain so I was looking at getting these spark plug dividers that bolt onto the valve cover.

https://www.corvettemods.com/C3-C4-C...s_p_14345.html

Has anyone used these before. I had a few questions about them.
1. Will I still used the stock length of spark plug wires? If not does anyone know what wires I should be using?
2. I assume I will need to take off the heat shields and keep them off, the ones mounted right above the spark plugs.or no.
3. Will I also be removing the the current wire Divider's, original I believe, that run the wires down the engine compartment shortly after leaving the distributor.

I appreciate any help, this is my first Corvette that I just picked up a few days ago.

Use the stock routing and you won't need the aftermarket wire looms.

Hi JR,
The 4 heat shields should probably remain in place since they protect the spark-plugs and the wire connections from the intense exhaust manifold heat.

Alan

After taking another look it does not look like the aftermarket ones will work, the way they mount is blocked by my manifold.

Do you need to disconnect the stock routing to be able to run the wires through?

It looks like I will need to disconnect them anyway to clean them and repaint. They are covered in oil from a leaky valve cover...

[QUOTE=Alan 71;1594711622]Hi JR,

Thanks for the Pics! Lets me get a good look at it, awesome!

Do you thread the wires through this piece with the arrows below or removing it to thread the wires through? The boots look like they will be a tight fit at best to get through.

Hi JR,
One way that has proved to be a help is to start the spark plug wire at the spark plug… that way you're threading the small distributor cap boot through the 'boomerang' shield.
It also helps get the wire through the engine mount by working from the spark-plug and threading toward the distributor.
Sometimes removing the boomerang is a problem so try working from the spark plug first.
Regards,
Alan
