So looking at the plumbing coming from the water pump and noticed this loop. Where should this hose be routed to? This has got to be a Bubba fix, Heater Core?
Hi JR,
Here's the hose routing diagram from Keen Parts.
The hoses run back to the heater core pipes that are in the air box on the firewall.

Alan
Since the core has been by by-passed you might find that it was by-passed because it's leaking and needs to be replaced.
The heater core is a pain to replace. Clearly a bypass was done likely because the original heater core was leaking. I did the same thing on my car as I live where it is warm most of the year and I only drive it on nice sunny days. I will get around to change the heater core out someday but was a nice 2 minute fix to keep me driving in the interim.
Did this to mine as well as I dont need heater even in winter where I live. I did it to stop the constant hot air coming into the cabin even when the heater setting was off. It was a simple solution that made sure that no hot water got to the heater core.
I am sure there was other things I could fix for the same result but this was the guaranteed simplest.
Why not purchase the AIM and follow the factory installation?
Just Purchased it, I think this is the type of Manual I was looking for when I bought my Haynes Repair Manual. Any other good manuals out there this wont cover?
Hi JR,
Probably the best choice for you is the 1977 Chassis Service Manual.
There's a service manual for each year. It was intended to be used at the service departments of the dealers.
BUT, the 77 edition is difficult to find, it's certainly worth searching for though.
You'll find it much more specific and useful than the Haynes and Chilton manuals.

Alan
