I purchased a project that had frame and engine and trans done. I have just gotten engine started and am working the bugs out. First off, I have a drip of coolant coming from the clutch arm shaft that pivots on engine. I just find that odd that the mounting shaft would go deep enough to enter a water jacket. Anyone had this issue? Is there a gasket that was perhaps overlooked? Thanks for the help! Randy
Hi RM,
The cross shaft stud threads into a blind hole so there should normally be no need for a gasket or sealer.
Since the stud is used as an adjustment for the cross-shaft there really couldn't be a gasket or sealer.
Coolant leak there?… did someone put too long a bolt in that opening and cause something bad to happen?
Regards,
Alan
Could it be that the origin of the coolant might be elsewhere? I had a drip coming from what appeared to be somewhere on the driver side of the block and it ran down the inside of the exhaust manifold and finally dripping onto the floor further back on the engine. It turned out to be a loose temperature sending unit.

I vote for head gasket leak dripping down to shaft.

Alan - after inspection with better lighting, I found the coolant was not coming from the clutch arm stud but from bottom of head. Looks like I'll be pulling that off this week. Appreciate your help.
