can anyone tell me the correct way to adjust the clutch on my stock 68. I had my car in the shop and the mechanic felt the clutch was engaging too high so he adjusted to "his liking" which engages pretty close to the floor. I have looked at the shop manual and its pretty vague. opinions on other sites online vary. I have seen a diagram on Willcox corvettes site http://repairs.willcoxcorvette.com/w...adjustment.jpg. I wasn't sure if it was only for new clutch installation.
What you want is 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" of free play. When you push down on the clutch pedal using your fingertips and not your foot, you want free movement in the above listed range before you start to feel resistance.

I adjust mine so that when its pressed to the floor,, while idling, if i lift off the pedal it will start to drag the engine RPM down about 2 inches off the floor. With the pedal all the way up, i can press it with my hand about 1 inch before I get resistance.
