@Beejay, this is exactly what I am considering for my stock 73-75 hood, and I am trying to solve for the same problem with steering at speed.
can you tell me the dimensions of the c7 vent? I'm trying to see if that vent will fit the hood right above serp pulleys but before air cleaner set up.
(here's another bump for your old thread!)
I don't have the dimensions, or even the part handy right now. But the mating piece that goes inside the hood is about $50-. I picked one up to experiment, before dropping hundreds on the vent itself.
I don't think it works with my 80 hood, unfortunately.

I cut mine out in hard stock cardboard. Fine tune with a razor nife. Then measured and remeasured for the location, but a layer of tape down to prevent chipping or cracking and taped the template down on top. Remeasrured the topside and then again on the underside so i didnt hit any seams. Measured some more. Traced the pattern onto the tape on the hood and very carefully dremel sawed it out with a disc....
Very nice, I'm glad to see different graphics and stripes on corvettes that were always pretty much taboo on c3 era cars except Baldwin motion cars. But the latest era vettes have them so I guess it's ok now.. I like how mine turned out.
I did upgrade my air cleaner assembly to utilize the cowl vents in my hood and have tested its functionality with a dual temp sensor readout which shows me the realtime air cleaner temps vs engine compartment temps. I am very happy with the performance I get from it as temps are typically anywhere from 20 to 40 degrees lower in the air cleaner area and ambient or close to it while the car is moving at decent speed.
