Default Crankcase vent

I just bought a new chrome air cleaner to replace my original one, the problem I have is bought a K/N crankcase vent chrome filter to replace the vent tube to the air cleaner, however it does not fit. Is there a special grommet that is needed to replace the original vent to accept the K/N filter?
Thank You

There is adapters but usually you can take the original grommet out and it will fit or you can take the valve cover off and just drill it out"

Thanks for the reply, I have the grommet out, the problem is with the K/N crankcase vent filter. The bottom has a 1"x1/2" piece of hose attached to it with a gates clamp provided............I don't know what to do with it, the hole in the valve cover where the original vent came from is way to big for the hose from the K/N filter to fit. It has to have something to be able to clamp on to using the gates clamp?

i needed a pcv valve grommet for my moroso valve covers, It just took a while until I found the correct part that works, fits tight. I think I found it at pep boys on line and picked up at the store.

Most auto parts stores have the different grommet that you need, I had the same problem

actually I had the opposite experience. I couldn't find a grommet to save my life when I put a set of Holley covers on the wife's '76 last year.

back in the day, all the parts stores had them...none of the chain stores carry that stuff anymore. I had to find an old school hot rod shop that actually still sells all the bling and stuff...autozone, o'reilley's, napa, and action auto were all a no-go and wasted the better part of my day!!!

if you are lucky, you can find a multi-stepped grommet that you cut to the correct size.

my o'reilley's must suck...even the child at the parts counter just shrugged and said we only have what's on that "high performance" end cap...which was nuthin' but old header gaskets and chrome wing nuts...

I had a hell of a time finding grommets that would seal well. I ended up buying some breathers with a built in grommet and they work great! They fit nice and tight, have a lower profile than most breathers, and are washable.

If you search "Mota Performance A70102 Chrome Plated Push-In Valve Cover Breather with 2" Washable Filter Element" you'll find them on a popular shopping site.

Thanks for the tip...bought this item yesterday the grommet with the hole in it did not fit, however, the other grommet had no hole in it but it fit the valve cover so I cut the end off and used a silicone adhesive to mount the K/N filter to it. Hope it stays on, so far so good. Thanks Again "red topless gator".
