Default Hi all C3 lovers

I did found some cables inside the hood the other day. Where the cable goes to the latches underneath there are a latch bolted to the underside of the hood and I was curious what that for? I found cables inside but nothing connected to the hood? It is close to the airintake/wipers.
And also do anyone have a clue how to get the cableconnection of on the steering lock male part that is on the columns left upper side?

Hi T,
Here's the typical connection for the 'steering lock' cable that runs from the steering column lever to the reverse lever on the transmission.
Is this what you're asking about?
Are you missing some parts?
Regards,
Alan

What the latches and cables look like depend on the year of the car. These are typical of 68-72 cars. Does any of this look like what you have?
Here is the cable that runs from one hood latch to the other and the connection for the hood release cable at the latch on the firewall.

The hood release handle pulls the cable to open the hood latch. The cable from the handle runs through the firewall.

There should be one cable from side to side in the hood. It's just a support to keep the hood from "flattening" when it's dropped closed, otherwise the paint on the hood and fenders would chip.

Sorry guys you missunderstood me it is electrical cables (wires) inside the scoop in the hood where the fresh air goes in to the filterhousing. And I mean the electrical connector on the column inside the compartment on the upper left side where the linkage goes from ignitionlock. I am taking down the column but cant get that connector loose and someone twisted the cables so I cant see how to get the connector of.

Are you describing this electrical wire that goes to the solenoid for the cowl induction flap? This is on my 73.

Is your car a 73-74 or 75?
The wire you found on the underside of the hood should a combined tan and black wire. It plugs into the wiring harness down in the front left side corner below the left headlight vacuum canister. It is for the functional cowl induction system. When you mash the gas pedal to the floor there is a switch behind the pedal that activates a solenoid under the hood vent to open it up letting fresh air into the carb.
Donnie beat me to it, in his photos above.
Hope this helps,
Tooch

Thanks you pin it exactly This car been in UK before and a lot of the electrics are a BIG mess. Instead of make it properly right the cables are disconnected or cut and tucked away in many places. They say it was Lucas that invented the darkness and sometimes looking at my car I agree. When we were driving it home I needed a flashlight to see the instruments...............
By the way mine is a 74.
