It's more a matter of width and offset of the wheel. I forget but I think the widest wheel you can use and keep it under fender with stock arms is 9". I have 18x10s and the offset arms were a must. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Are your 295's inside the stock rear wheel lip? I am putting on the Ridetech rear and want to run the Avon 295's with a 10 inch wheel and 5.5 inch backspace.

Croaker: I thought that if you had 18" on the rear. Offset trailing arms were not needed?
I just install 18 x9.5" wheels with 275 40R 18 Tires. I think they fit a look ok with the fender. 4.75" BS clears parking brake, spring, rear sway bar with no mods at all.
From your post , I thought you were talking crank hp. Years ago I went 160 around Pocono, but that was in a racing Vette. Great fun ! Good luck to ya and let us know how it works out.
Pop: I believe that was 300 rwhp and cleaned up aeros.
I'm thinking that was 600 rwhp for the Le Mans cars which had not much of a rear spoiler.
It took some serious ***** to go 200+ in a C3.

I did 18x10 with 0 +/- offset which I think is the same as 5.5BS (but you would need to confirm). I dont have a great pic of the wheels but they are barely under the lip. I was under the impression that the offset arms were needed for this, but it seems some others have figured out a way around that based on some of the posts. Good luck

Thanks, will definitely measure it all up when I am ready. Really hope I can sneak the 295's in there.

Its all about the diameter, not the back spacing. Once you get to 18's the diameters sufficient that back space can increased until the wheel/tire hits the trailing arm or more likely the frame arch. 18" diameter allows suspension/brake parts to tuck inside the barrel of the wheel.
Offset trailing arms are not offset in the area that affects backspacing with 18" wheels. Smaller wheels yes, 18" wheels no.
Up above in the wheel sticky someone has the original 48 hour wheels....big F-in wheels
