Default 1974 Turn Signal switch buzzing sound

Hello!

I had to disconnect the battery because there was this "buzzing" sound coming from somewhere under steering wheel...and the sound would not stop... when I move the turn signal switch the sound stops/and starts again. Faulty turn signal relay?
The sound reminds of a angry wasp.

regards

C

I must add that the turn signals works fine and has got the normal "tic-tic" sound.
But this buzz-buzzz-buzzzz sound seems to be coming from under the steering wheel or from somewhere under the dash...
As soon as I re-connect the battery that noise starts again.

It may be the key in warning buzzer? The buzzer switch is 2 metal prongs in a sheath inside the steering wheel. These are brittle and may have broke.

Could it be the horn relay?

Now I found out that the sound seems to be coming from right below of the speedometer...
There is this grey looking box-thing...

I also found out that the sound stops/starts when I pull the turn signal level towards me.

The level moves about 2 millimeters back/forward.

The lever should not move back and forth. Sound like your turn signal switch is not screwed down all the way. And as I said, the key in buzzer switch may be compromised also causing the "buzzer" to go off, which is the horn relay in the engine compartment.

I have to assume that this noise is happening when the key is OUT of the ignition switch???

Does it go off when you turn your ignition key ON but not start the engine??? and have your door closed also.

As previously mentioned..it can highly likely be your key warning switch in your column...and the contacts area acting up or damaged in some way.

I found an old thread about this.
Yes, it seemed to be that it was the key warning switch system that was faulty.
In the old thread they said to disconnect the pink wire from the harmonica connection under the dash close to the steering wheel.

After I cut that wire the buzzing sound stopped...I guess no harm was done to any other system on the car??
