Default BB's

Went to remove bottom plate from under my tilt/telescoping steering column and (2) small BB's fell on the floor. Does that have anything to do w/the steering? It still seems to work OK, but do not want to get out on the road & can't steer!

My money is on the bearings inside the column. These are loosely held by a chase (I believe). Here's a pic of my disassembled TT column:

What's next? Is it hard to take care of? Looks to be by the exploded view that redbarchetta74 sent me. Waiting on all you senior members to recommend! Seriously, can a person w/basic mechanical skills repair/replace this?

Sure. Just be patient, rent the correct tools, and download the Jim Shea papers.

here,s a pic of the old set (white plastic) and the new one I put in . The white plastic had split open and the BB,s had started to come out , by the time I got it home the wheel and shaft was moving around quite a bit ! scary !! I blame people using the wheel to help get in and out of these cars .
