Default Getting my C3 back on the road.

You know when you have one of these cars off the road for a while there are a lot of littles that keep it there and unfortunately you keep finding new things to fix!. I hope some of you folks can give me some guidance on two items.
I am putting the windshield wiper switch bracket back in the dash and find that the screws went to places unknown also the holes in the dash are some what distressed. Does anyone know the screw sizes? There appear to be two different sizes; one in the middle on the top, is larger; it almost looks like 1/4-20, the others may be sheet metal screws of some sort. I hesitate to experiment least I make the holes worse than they are.
My second problem is one of the headlights is stuck in the up position. The engine is not running yet (spark plug wires are next) so I raised them manually. The drivers side one raises and lowers smoothly but the passenger side is stuck in the up position; how would one go about freeing this up.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi I,
It would be helpful to know the year of your car… perhaps you might remember to include that info in your posts.

When operating properly the headlights should 'lock' in the open position.
You shouldn't be able to close them by amply pushing on them.

To close a door in the up (locked position) you need to reach under and up until your fingers can feel the 'rod' in the photo. Pull slightly forward and down to release the door and you'll be able to push it closed.

Don't pull on the black plastic switch by accident… it's very easy to break.

Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Default Thanks

Sorry it is a 73; it looks like the one I can push down is the problem
