On another note, I have my heater door closed but it still seems like heat is making its way in to the cabin. Have you by-passed your heater core? If so how did you do it? I'm trying to get the cabin a bit cooler considering the 100 degree weather we are having here....
When you disconnected the clutch electrical connector, did the clutch disengage?

The 70 system must have a cutoff valve for the heater core. I am not sure if its cable operated or vacuum controlled on the 70, I have an 80.

If it does turn, (the front hub with the rubber), with the connector un plugged and engine running, then your clutch is fused together.
As I said in my other post, If the pulley won't turn, the belt will burn because the pulley ALWAYS turns and the belt will be slipping across the frozen pulley making one he!! of a noise. No such thing as a clutch bearing on a A6.

Dom
The clutch must be fused together because it spins fine until I connect the wire to the compressor. Once that happens its starts screaming because the belt is being dragged.

Its got a cut off valve but as I understand it only engages when MAX AIR is selected.

OK,
Your compressor is locked up. Try turning the very front hub, the one with the rubber. If it won't turn your compressor is frozen. May not be as bad as you think because mineral oil turns to gum. Try turning that hub over and see if you can get it to turn. If so and it turns with moderate pressure then try it with the engine running and the wire connected.
