Default Center console install

I am replacing the interior in my 71, and am having a problem putting the center console back together. What would be the sequence in putting it together, have new cables for the vent and s new controller. Any help or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi D,
Welcome!
First post!
Generally the plate that the heater/defroster mounts on should go on top of the console first.
Then if the car has kick panel vents the 2 control levers and cables for those should be hooked up.
Then mount the shifter boot, ashtray housing, and rear fiber-optics lens to the underside of the shifter plate.
Test EVERYTHING including the light for the heater controller, and lighter, then test the heater controller, and then finally put the plate in place on the top of the console.
The 2 vent '*****' can then be installed on the control levers.
Be careful as you work and test things as you work.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
