Default Spring help

Ive posted this before but I didn't have too much info. My 1969 coupe sits too high in the rear. The spring is a 9 leaf that I thought was 2.5" wide. So long story short I ordered a replacement thinking that was the issue, pulled the original spring off the car and it turns out that the spring was in fact 2.25" inches. So I pulled a leaf out of the spring and put it back in. The drivers side sits at about 29.5 while the passenger sits at about 30.5. The car already has longer spring bolts which is the weird thing because I have more adjustment left in the drivers side while the passenger side is backed down as low as it can go. I have no idea why the car does this. Everything else looks right but I could be wrong. All I know about the car is that it had an older restoration back in the 90's. The tires on the rear are 255/60r15's and up front are 225/70r15's. Measuring from the garage floor to the wheel well lip. I quickly measured the frame right in front of the rear wheel wells so I may be off but it looks like the passenger side is 8.5 while the drivers side is 7.75. Any help I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to just throw parts at it because I already have to return this new spring to ecklers. I'm ready to sell the damn thing already cause I really thought the spring was wrong, so I'm really hoping for some good news or a point in the right direction. Thanks guys.

I'm away from the car right now for pics. Could you just tell me what else I should look at?

I'm thinking about putting the leaf I removed back in, and removing the last curved leaf at the bottom of the spring pack (obviously not the mounting leaf).

I'm just at wits end and don't know what else to do. When I go home I'm going to check the shocks aren't seized. What do you suggest I look at?

check the frt #'s the frt could be too low,frt goes down, back goes up.I put an after market 7 leaf in mine and it was arched too much,I just took out the one long leaf to bring it down(frt was good on mine). My car handles perfectly(f-41) without the leaf and you'll have more adjustment on your bolts.

Thanks blue, I'm thinking of removing the last possible arch and seeing what that does. I'll check the shocks tonight and be sure that they're not seized but I know I couldn't get that lucky

You better look at the FRONT springs 1st ! You may have a broken or damaged one. Checked your tire pressures lately ?

Not that my opinion means 'jack squat'...but taking out a leaf to me is pointless...and IF your Corvette were in my shop and you asked me to do that I would hand your car keys back to you and let you have at it....EVEN THOUGH I know it can be done I just choose NOT to do it....and YES I am aware that GM offered a 7 leaf and 9 leaf rear spring.

I would use the data above that applies to your Corvette and measure out the front and rear and see what is going on because as like it has been mentioned. You can have an issue in the front.

And...for what it is worth like I wrote in a recent thread about the same issue...hopefully you do not get too caught up in the 'numbers' while measuring it because IF you do...it can make you go crazy. Get it to where it looks good and stop...or keep going and let me know where to send you stuff when you check yourself into the mental institution.

I am NOT trying to imply that when I deal with this stuff I do not take the time to get it right...but there are some cases that MY TIME = MONEY and if the owner of the car wants to spend more money to get that 1/4" difference out.. I will do it...but when they come back in a month or two later and it is measured out again..the numbers are NOT the same as they were when it left. Just liekwkeh i nahd a custoerm at reh alignmetn sho and we aligned it to tehspecs he wanted and it was perfect qadn he saaw it.

Then he took it for short drive to check it out and when he came back we put it back up on the alignment machine and like WE told him...the alignment will not be just like it was when it left.....and then the numbers showed up on the screen...we were right...and he was shocked. And that was like we told him that worrying about perfection in something that is going to change is kinda pointless.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I'll have to look at the front springs and see how they are. I appreciate all the tips cause this is what I've been wanting, places to start!

So I just got home and put a jack underneath the passenger rear shock and placed a mark on it. When jacked up on it the shock didn't hardly compress. So I'll pull the shock on my next off day and see if it's seized.
