Default Need help getting my bearings straight! Rear wheels.

Trying to replace the rear wheels bearings, but I'm worried I'm missing something here as noth the new bearings and the seals from VB&P (partnr. 51003) do not seem to fit.

Yes, I sent VB&P tech an e-mail, but I know they are busy and I noticed they seem to have blocked The Netherlands from visiting their website (little harsh perhaps...) so I do not know if they do receive my e-mails.

Besides I'm not only impatient but also on the clock as I need the assembly done before this Sunday.

Also: does anybody have a good howto description? I'm working off some YouTube videos and the Haynes manual.

Thanks a million!

From what I can see...you do not have the correct inner grease seal like you show in your photo. The correct INNER grease seal is the one on the very bottom..all the way to the right....where you have the red arrow pointing.

I think you have a kit that w as packaged incorrectly....because if the parts you have do not match up with that you took out...it is not hard to figure that someone packed it wrong.

Do you have a rear wheel bearing set-up tool??? It is needed so you can install the correct shim to set the end play of the bearings...as you know by now.

The set-up tool is needed to set-up the bearings when they are dry..as you probably know by now.

Re-using the shim you took out may not work due to new bearings going in.

I know how to do these...but I have not made video for the world to see...so without seeing what you are watching....I cannot say if it is correct or incorrect in how I do it. I have seen a few of them and shake my head due to someone is doing this job and finding ways to not use specific tools like I have...

I see your new outer seals but not your new inner seals so where are they? The large seals and bearings go on the outer part of your spindle and the smaller seals and bearings go on the inner part of your spindle.

'bazza77'

Although GTR1999's thread was great...The main thing is so much is left out... such as the fixture he used for setting up the bearings prior to installation.

This is when having the special tools works best for someone who does not really know how to do it. GTR1999 is a different breed...he has the ability to make special tools for himself that most people can not do nor would not do.

Small update for you guys. Working together with a shop now and ordered new bearings here in The Netherlands (Timken GM original set). VB&P has not responded thus far.

Hope to have everything back together sometime this week

Hopefully you also make sure you index your rear rotors and verify the run-out on the rotors is correct.

Ah yes, I have not gotten that far yet. My assembly stranded on a lack of trailing arm shims.

In addition to dub's awesomeness, I suggest calling Mike Dyer; he knows these things inside and ouy (pun intended) and has helped me through more than a few problems.
