Default 1981 Vacuum canister

After finding that my vacuum relays where bad I replaced them. System still didnt work. Heard a hissing, pinched the hose going to the can, stopped. Pinched both hoses coming out of the can, still hiss. Took the can out to inspect and found the problem. Time for a new can!

When you get a new one and before you install it, put sealant around the top fitting where the hoses plugs in. I've had an issue with one recently and it wasn't sealed up between the fitting and the can.

Anyone ever made one from a coffee can and some jb cold weld? These things are like $50 and the fitting at the top is in good shape.

YES I did that , even put some alloy beams inside for support . sealed the top with JB weld . put it in .

lasted about 2 minutes before it imploded at least my sealing effort worked.

Perfect example of "necessity if the Mother of all invention"...and what can happen as a result.

I have seen some people make them out of scheduled 40 PVC.

But if a person is wanting it to look original..buy a new one.
