sbc has certainly come a long way but 500 cubes will make that big low end the sb wont. 100 extra lbs is hardly noticeable
My LT5 weighed about the same as an alum headed big block...very hard to tell the difference from an aluminum head L98. Performance was worth it.
An all aluminum LSx is light....maybe GMs LSx 454? Pricy but big power
Havent had a big block in many years but the appearance and thundering sound just cant be duplicated.

One thing not mentioned is 'Bang for the Buck' It will cost some real money to make a SB put out the power of a mild BB.
Lots of time to decide, first thing is getting my current combo operating at 100%!
Once I get the 5 speed in, I will know more about what I want!
