Default 72 Corvette small block water pump

Can anyone tell me what the outside diameter of the lower radiator hose port on the stock water pump is for a 72 small block base engine. Mine is 1 7/8" ( not measured at the lip which prevents the hose from coming off ) but the area where the clamp squeezes the hose at. My pump is a replacement which for some reason is much too tight for the hose.
Thanks

Hi v,
I don't think the original small block water-pumps used originally had a raised ridge on the radiator hose pipe.

Are you sure the pump you're using for comparison is an original?
Regards,
Alan

Smear some dish washing liquid onto the water pump's inlet and inside the hose and it'll slip right on with little effort.

Sorry I did not mention that my replacement is not an original. In fact I do not know anything about it. The new replacement lower radiator hose will not go on the water pump far enough to get the clamp to properly secure it. The new replacement hose is from a Corvette Vendor we all use. The new hose is slightly smaller in diameter at the water pump end. It is also slightly smaller in diameter than the used GM hose I took off. Just need to know what size the pump lower radiator hose port diameter is ( should be ) ?
thanks for the speedy response.
