Default Engine Stamp Numbers

Were are located the Engine Serial Stamp Number ( that one with part of vin number ), in a corvette 1976 with a L-48 engine? This year comes with this number? I saw in the engines numbers manual that supose to be a serial with CHW in somewere...

Welcome!
First post.

Here's a photo showing the location of the 'pad' dd described.

There are typically 2 stamps on it:
The first is the VIN derivative indicating the first vehicle the engine was installed in.
The second is the engine assembly stamp which indicates the engine plant in which the engine was assembled, the date the engine was assembled, and the configuration in which it was assembled. CHW indicates a 350 cu.in. engine that was installed in Novas in 1976. It was also used during 76 and 78 production.
