Engine Stamp Numbers

Here's a photo showing the location of the 'pad' dd described.
There are typically 2 stamps on it:
The first is the VIN derivative indicating the first vehicle the engine was installed in.
The second is the engine assembly stamp which indicates the engine plant in which the engine was assembled, the date the engine was assembled, and the configuration in which it was assembled. CHW indicates a 350 cu.in. engine that was installed in Novas in 1976. It was also used during 76 and 78 production.
