What's happend to the forum?? I thought this was a great place for info on fixing your vette.Lately there a lot of off topic threads, who cares if the c5 owners don't wave or which color car gets the most women. The list goes on and on.I've seen legitimate post's and they get very few replies. I don't think this is what the originators of this forum had in mind when it was created!!! :mad :mad :mad :mad

i agree, i think the mods should get a little firmer on sending OT threads to OT.

but i think a large part of it is that people are bored, and alot of time only like to talk with other C3-ers. Cant blame em!

Well, I frequent OT quite a bit, so my idea of what is and what isn't a meaningful topic may be a tad skewed. However, when I post a thread in C3, it is always answered with very good information on where to find parts, what this part is for, what parts fit, etc. My car wouldn't be running without the forum.

Let me say that again...

My car wouldn't be running without the forum.

I haven't seen any stupid topics on the board myself so far. I find them all interesting if not informative. I myself have posted topics such as which color is best. I mean I am looking to buy a 69 vette in 3-4 months, and that's a possible $23,000 investment, it is very important to me what women think of it, I mean I'm not rich, and this is going to be a one time opportunity to get a nice car like this because I'm selling off the last property I have besides my current residence. I mean at one time I shortly considered getting a orange vette, but that dosen't seem to be as popular with women as black. I like them both, so it's not like I'm buying something that my heart dosen't really want, it just helps me choose, because I can only afford to buy one real nice vette. I plan on taking all the cash from it and getting both a 1969 Corvette and a presidential gold Rolex. Yeah, I have low self esteem, and am experiencing a mid-life crisis at the age of 28, so appearences are important to me, and I must have the right car. I've found some of the polls on here quite informative, and have really narrowed my choices down to a black 69 vette. I am very obsessed with Corvettes, I get that way about everything I take a interest in. I think about them all the time, every second of the day. Getting a good 69 vette right now is the most important thing in my life. I love this forum, I have learned so much here so far, and yet have alot more to learn. This is what is so great about Corvettes is it's like a brotherhood, and there are so many people willing to help fellow Corvette enthusiasts like myself and others.

This is why some of us would like a "C3 tech only" forum. Recent polls have shown that most here disagree. It's really not that bad if you have time to keep up. The only real inconvenience is that if you don't read the forum for a day or two, some of the more interesting topics could get buried and you might miss them.

The Forum goes in spurts. A lot depends on the weather, time of day, etc. But just the same, I think there is room in here for everyone, and all of the content they bring. Not to be Polly Anna about it, but if it looks stupid (your point is well taken, some of the posts, IMHO are crap) I skip it and I read on.

Just because legitimate posts get very few replies, you blame the OT stuff
Maybe you need to blame the lurkers....

If you look at the main C3 page you will see a thread 27 posts to a topic that has 248 views.
And that is the serious posts.. Not OT stuff....

So you can't say that the OT stuff is killing your viewing pleasure. It is the lack of replies to the tech topics, without replies they will slip off into oblivion...

But you need to remember the most important rule of all:
All Work and no Play, Makes Jack A dull Boy :smash:

Lighten up a little and don't be afraid to smile :D

I kind of agree, there were some interesting topics (I thought anyway) and they got next to no replies and the BS stuff gets loads of replies  :cry

Engine & Upgrades has been really really slow too :(

Off-Topic has assimilated all the forums

See, now that was a good topic that got molested. It dropped so fast that no one mentioned the DOT5.1 or superDOT4 stuff wich is superior to all the others out there.

5.1 is NOT similar to 5, it;'s non silicone bsaed so the name is kind of confusing. SuperDOT4 says it better :)

See.. now this has turne into somewhat of a good topic too :p:

I don't mind the stupidity, I think most of it is funny too but if it overwhelms and the true C3 topics are dropping like bricks, that's a shame.

I read about everything, what else am I going to do w/ my time :D

Lord knows im as guilty as anybody of this...
ie...my stepdad dying...
my brother crashing his C-5...
i could name a few others too...as im sure some you could...
but i also post alot of relevant questions too and for some reason this forum has a "family of friends" atmosphere to it and i for one really enjoy that...
i know that when i ask a question or request advise, the guys that reply to me kinda know me in a strange sense of the word...and i feel comfortable with that...
the other thing is that there is sometimes a fine line between on topic and off topic...
ie...my post on the shop i built to work on my car...
hhhmmm...is that REALLY a C-3 topic?
well....kinda...
i for one like it the way it is and wonder if we got too strict about it that there would be too many topics that are close to that fine line and some good topics would not be posted...

hhhmmm...by the way, great topic!

No topic is ‘stupid’.

I have always been a proponent for two C3 sections: Tech and General. Look at the number of posts in this single section compared to other sections on the forum. I never have time to read posts on the second C3 page. I have also experienced little or no response to some tech questions on occasion, likely because they are bumped off the main page. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the fun C3 BS’ing, but the tech stuff is invaluable. With two sections, we can have the best of both worlds.

I agree, I got 0 replies to my last topic :cry and don't want to TTT them every time. I never read the 2nd page.

I think the 2 split forums would be a good idea too. Also, if you have 2 forums the topics on both forums won't drop as fast as they do now. I frequently see archived stuff that one can't reply to yet iwould like to add some stuff to or discussions that ended 1/2 way.

Why are you complaining about off topic threads, when you yourself have posted a topic that has nothing of value. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones!!

The reply "Quit looking at my tata's" still cracks me up!

That thread was near death (bottom of page) before it got molested :yesnod:

I remember a time when a performance/tech topic would come up and there was like a competition amongst posters to put in there 2 cents before the other guy or to correct or critique someone else's post. It produced quick, complete responses. I don't see this happening as much now. Maybe I'm not looking at the right threads, I dunno.
