Default Baldwin Motion Hood?

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this question but is there a version of the Baldwin Motion hood available for '75 and up Corvettes with the long style hood? I know there is the reproduction of the hood up to '74 that have the wiper door, I was just curious if anyone had come across the design for the long style hood?

The new motor is likely not going to fit under my L88 so I at the very least am going to have to step up to the high rise L88 hood. I really like the Baldwin Motion hood for something different. The other option would be to cut up my L88 hood and fabricate my own I suppose.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

They are available. I just checked Eckler first:

https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corv...1973-1976.html

But several vendors sell them. Look around.

Also, short hoods ended in 1972, not ‘74.

The only Baldwin Motion Phase III hood I can find on Eckler's (or anywhere for that matter) is for '68-'72 Corvettes.

That motion scoop looks like an add-on to a standard cowl hood. There is also a 5 inch high cowl induction hood on ebay doesn't look terrible. But if your gonna cut a hood up, I would leave that L88 alone. Would look a little busy with a scoop right behind that drop-down section. The C2 stinger style is also rather attractive.

Or maybe this one...https://southjersey.craigslist.org/p...380653332.html should give enough clearance...

The motion phase hood was a 68 to 72 lt1 / bb hoi9d with the dips filled and a 67 427 scoop on top,
Guys made these before motion but motion made it famous,

I do not recall ever seeing a long one unless a cat built it,

One overpriced imo outfit sells a long for 73 to 82 cars lt1 bb hood on ebay you could add a 427 67 scoop on top of that,

Ecklers also has a hood called a stinger a long hood with 67 427 scoop,
Ecklers version of the short phase hood is different at the rear of the scoop compared to the motion phase hood,

The13Bats:
Thank you for the information, looks like I will be fabricating one myself seeing as all the versions I have found are the short style hood. The only problem is that I don't know how well it will look without a wiper door.

GUSTO:
Yes that is the hood that I am looking at, only my car doesn't have a wiper door so I need a long style hood. I really like the look and functionality of it.

Whoops, thought you meant an L88 hood; my mistake.

I don’t know where you can get that one with the stinger stuck on it.

Even though I respect them and think they are cool, I never liked that funky Motion Hood! I think the headlight conversion with a long stinger would look so much better!

looking at the rear view of the motion hood on the gold car, the way the back of the scoop hangs over the wiper door would have to be done differently on a long hood. Looks like under the motion scoop is essentially a standard cowl induction hood. So you could probably blend the opening in the back of the scoop into the cowl induction opening of the 73 to 77 type Hood. Maybe raise it a bit.

I have seen use a 67 427 scoop or other scoops of that style on later long hood c3s and it look really good,

There was a member who sadly passed years ago he stacked a scoop on a l88 hood very sweet one of my all time favs,

For some reason i cant post pix

I talked to a guy at the winter meet last year that makes chrome bumper conversions. I talked to him about a wiper cover to allow the early hood to fit the later car. I'm thinking it may not be that hard to do. I will look for him this year and see if he moved forward on it.there are wiper door covers for early cars . They could be used but cosmetically it wouldn't be perfect. I have a real baldwin motion hood that I plan on using.

Its a bit like the wiper door delete cover that racers used, they tossed the heavy ish wiper door stuff and had a thin fiberglass cover back there,

Also john silva offered that with his mako kit in the early 70s,
The mako was made to have a wiper door but some didnt like it or wanted the mako on a later car so he made his cover,

Its essentially the back of a long hood cut off and modded at the scoop area to mate with the hood one uses,

The sides where it meets the fenders are a little different 68 to 72, 73 to 79,

I just like short hoods on c3s, the wiper door is cantankerous cool to me but i would do just the cover to run a short hood,

I had this in the works before my falling out with mike,

I'm not too concerned with the looks (even though I do kinda like it's looks), I still have an unpainted L88 hood on after all these years lol. I'm more concerned with it's functionality and I think it will work well for me in that regard.

derekderek
I don't think it will be that bad to mold together with the long style hood, with the hood shut it should look very similar to the original. I am going to do what 13Bats suggested and get a long style LT1 hood and the "Stinger" scoop and mold them together. Worst case scenario it was a fun project and if it doesn't work/look like I anticipate I still have an L88 to go with.

The13Bats:
I also like the short style hood/wiper door on the shark body. That would likely be the simpler route to go rather than molding the scoop to a hood. Was Rolling Thunder running a tunnel ram setup, the scoops looks to be sitting up a little higher (maybe it's just the angle of the photo)? It looks really sharp though.

The reason I would prefer the short hood is the back opening of the hood was designed to be a few inches ahead of the windshield. All these long hood l-88 hoods jam it right up to the windshield
I just don't think it would function correctly. I will go with a wiper cover.
